Bury Jamboree 2016

Linton won the Bury Jamboree on 8 September, retaining the trophy we won last year.  Our two teams finished first and second out of twelve competing.

Linton Lions (Kevin Clark, Martin Pinner, Giulio Sahinoz and Aarnavh Trivedi) won with the massive score of 11.5/12.  Linton Llamas (Paul Kemp, Paul McMahon, Patrick Ribbands and Lorenzo Sahinoz) were second with 9.5/12.

Kevin, Giulio, Aarnavh, Paul McMahon and Patrick all won all three of their games.

Annual General Meeting 2016

The Secretary said that Linton had had the most successful season ever!

The club had won the first, the second, the third division and the Roger Goldsmith 2 competition in the Bury League and also the Jamboree in the Cambridgeshire League. All members of the club were to be congratulated on this achievement.

The Secretary said that the winner this season of the Club Championship was not only the youngest on record, he had also won by the highest ever margin! The Secretary said that Giulio was a worthy winner of the shield. Giulio collected the shield to a long round of applause.

Success at Cambridgeshire County Championship

Five Linton players played in the Cambridgeshire County Championship held in Peterborough over the weekend of 28/29 November.

Paul Kemp of Linton club shared the title and trophy with Chris Davison of the Cambridge club with a score of 4/5.  Tying in third place were Ashley Stewart and Julian Ray on 3.5/5, and Patrick Ribbands and Mark Lim both scored 50% with 2.5/5.

For Paul it was the fifth time he has been County Champion, his most recent previous success being in 2010.

 

Triple Success in Cambridgeshire Rapidplay

Linton players achieved a triple success at the eleventh Cambridgeshire Rapidplay on 11 October, where 94 players from as far away as Kent, Oxfordshire and north Lincolnshire competed in three tournaments.

David Coleman won the Open Tournament with 4.5/5 and also collected the Jack Taylor trophy, awarded to the highest-placed Cambridgeshire player.  Also in the Open Ashley Stewart scored 4/5 to share second place.  Finally in the Challengers Tournament Giulio Sahinoz won the Under 11 prize with a score of 3.5/5.

Linton Win Bury League Jamboree

The Bury League Jamboree took place at Moreton Hall Community Centre, Bury St Edmunds.

In this event entrants play three Rapidplay games against members of other clubs.

Linton won with a score of 11.5 out of 12, with Cambridge and Ely coming joint second.

Ashley Stewart, Paul Kemp, and Patrick Ribbands each won all three of their games.

Bury League results for the club were :-

  • Division 1 – Second

Linton won the Cambridgeshire Jamboree.

The Bury League announced Paul Kemp as Division 2 player of the year.  Patrick Ribbands was placed third in the same list.
