Linton is a thriving club south of Cambridge, serving South Cambridgeshire and the Saffron Walden and Haverhill areas of Essex and Suffolk. We have excellent modern premises with two rooms, one for matches and another for friendlies, analysis and refreshments. We meet at 7.30pm on Tuesdays.
The club typically has around eight teams in Bury Area Chess League competitions, catering for all standards of player. We also play in other local tournaments, including the East Anglian Club Championship, which we have won five times in recent years. Within the club we hold an annual club championship and during the summer we have a varied programme including a rating-handicapped rapidplay.
In partnership with local colleges we run the Anglian Learning Chess Academy for talented junior chess players from age 8 upwards. A number of them have won selection to the England junior squads and the Academy currently has a recent British Under 16 champion and the current Under 8 girls champion.
You’d be sure of a friendly welcome and opportunities to play and improve whatever your standard if you’d like to come to the club.
