Ribbands Rapidplay 2025

The Linton summer tournament -the Ribbands Rapidplay- concluded on 19 August in a close finish. The winner was Kayal Vijay, who was crowned British Girls’ Under 8 champion in the British Championships a few weeks earlier. So double congratulations to her.

Our thanks to Konrad Scheffler who organised the tournament, and also to Paul McMahon, James Cole, Alan Richardson, Paul Kemp and Konrad (again) for giving talks, analysis and puzzles on selected evenings.

The detailed player results of the rapidplay after 19 rounds are shown below. To qualify for a placing players had to play a minimum of eight games, and they are shown in bold in the table below. Averages scores are used to decide placings to compensate for different numbers of games being played by competitors. The scores in indvidual games take account of the game result and the rating difference between the players. The winner is therefore the player with the highest difference between actual and expected score (the most improved player).
