Fourteen Academy players participated in the regional heats of the UK Chess
Challenge for junior players, held in Cambridge on 8 June, and eleven qualified
for the national gigafinals. Not only that, but they won two gold medals, two
silver and two bronze across five tournaments, as shown below.
- Under 8 First place and gold medal: Minh Nguyen 6/6
- Under 10 First place and gold medal: Leeladharahas Kanchi 5.5/6
- Girls’ bronze medal: Moer Sha
- Also qualified: Ivan Yu and Antonio Di Fruscia
- Under 12 Second place and silver medal: Guy Parsons 5/6
- Also qualified: Jonathan Guo and Pratyush Reddy
- Under 14 Second place and silver medal: Thomas Sha 5/6
- Also qualified: Neel Mishra and Gabriel Varea
- Under 18 Third place and bronze medal: Ben Varea 4.5/6
